چکیده

During numerical simulation of geotechnical engineering, due to the complex engineering geological condition, the simplified geologic model is usually adopted. However, the accuracy and reliability of calculating result are directly influenced by characteristic of model. The 3D geologic model can better reflect the actual geological condition. The paper presents a new and practical modeling method (Geologic Model Transforming Method) of numerical analysis by integrating geologic model and numerical model. This method is performed with the following procedures: (1) cutting the 3D geologic model according to numerical calculation region; (2) extracting control data from cutting model to reconstruct the surface model; (3) meshing and forming the numerical model automatically by the stratum attribute; (4) importing the model into numerical analysis system. An example is given to illustrate the application of the method. The implementation of the method results in high efficiency and automaticity of modeling.

Determination of settlement trough width and optimization of soil behavior parameters based on the design of experiment method (DOE)

The expansion of the settlement trough is an important factor in the risk assessment of the tunneling induced settlement. The increase of settlement trough requires buildings to be included in the impact zone, which causes damages. This paper conducts estimation of the settlement trough width (STW) using empirical approaches, field measurement data and numerical solutions. The credibility of th...

Numerical Investigation on Effects of Deep Excavations’ Position on Existing Metro Tunnels in Urban Areas

Nowadays deep excavations are needed for construction of foundation of high rise buildings, providing space for parking and etc. In some cases deep excavations may be constructed in the vicinity of the subway tunnels and causes unpredicted extra displacements and internal forces in tunnel lining of tunnels which were not designed for them and consequently affect serviceability of tunnel. Theref...
